It’s shaping up to be a busy month, with several different showings and performances to share. If you’re in the New York area, Étude opens its run a week from today!

Now Playing: Étude
"If Thornton Wilder wrote Gruesome Playground Injuries..."
Ashley Griffin’s Étude follows two soulmates through different guises, varied relationships, and many lifetimes across time and space as they test whether true (not necessarily romantic) love and eternal connection can survive the trials of the human experience.

This has been an exciting rehearsal process, including an incredibly talented team and some unexpected production elements. (You’ll have to come see the show to find out what those might be!) We will be bringing our workshop production of this beautiful new play to The Tank (midtown Manhattan, tickets available for $5 off with our promo code: Friends&Fam) for six performances April 8-18, and I’d love to see you from my stage management booth.
Celebrating Women in the Arts (in DC!)
It’s always Women’s History Month at Expand the Canon, but this March we enjoyed sharing the mission a bit extra with an exciting slate of partnership events and initiatives. I made a wonderful, if quick, visit to Washington DC to staff our NMWA Nights collaboration with the National Museum of Women in the Arts on March 18th, where our Make Her Mark activity and pop-up monologues and scenes throughout the galleries were a bit hit. It was a treat to share ETC’s work with so many new faces -- and to explore NMWA’s amazing collection of femme visual artists.
(Eager for more WHM content? You might enjoy my Women of Theatre dramaturgy post from a few years ago!)

April Showers: Upcoming Calendar
Wednesday, April 8 - Saturday, April 18 - Étude at The Tank
(More information above) Come join us for a workshop production of this beautiful new play!
Monday, April 20 - “Best of PlayGround-NY 2026”
PlayGround-NY cultivates emerging playwrights by producing readings of prompt-inspired short plays throughout their PlayGround Mondays series (midtown Manhattan, with livestream tickets also available). April’s program celebrates the audience-favorite plays of the past season, and I’ll be directing one of the evening’s selections.
Thursday-Saturday, April 23-25 - New Play-Reading Festival at The Growing Stage (NJ)
One of my first-ever professional directing gigs was staging a reading for NPRF, and I always love returning to collaborate on The Growing Stage’s biennial festival spotlighting new plays for young audiences. This year’s four finalists will be presented as staged readings in late April, with full details to be announced soon.
Travel Log: Washington, DC
While in DC, I also enjoyed visiting the National Gallery’s current Mary Cassatt exhibitions, discovering an incredible Laurie Anderson installation at the Hirshhorn Museum, and catching the Folger’s cool District-inspired take on As You Like It!
