October: Continuations & Debuts

Updated: Nov 1

I have varied updates this round, with an ongoing production still running and some other project announcements on the horizon. You can still catch Devil’s Disciple at Theatre Row throughout most of November, please do drop me a line if you’re coming through!

Ongoing: The Devil’s Disciple

As you may recall if you read these regularly, I assistant directed this fun and thought-provoking Off-Broadway production for Gingold Theatrical Group, currently in previews and opening on November 3. Set during the American Revolution, Bernard Shaw’s rebellious comedy follows a memorable cast of characters discovering that they can be more than the roles society has cast them in. Staying true to the heart and commentary of Shaw’s text, our production (adapted and directed by David Staller) streamlines the story to be told by a cast of five women in a fresh reimagining for today.

Our cast is doing a wonderful job bringing this timely tale to life like never before, and we’d love to have you join us at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street) through November 23!

Brand New: Introducing the 2024 Expand the Canon List

Just last week, my collaborators at Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre announced our 2024 Expand the Canon list: this year spotlighting 16 incredible and wide-ranging short plays and one-acts by female and gender expansive playwrights. Spanning from 1600 to the 1980s and covering an eclectic balance of genres and styles, you’re sure to find treasures to read, teach, or produce! This year I worked on the dramaturgical research for three of our featured titles (The Mannequin, Rain of Ice, and Three Women) and I look forward to seeing what’s next for these spectacular works. If you’re in the New York area tickets are available for the next ETC evening of short plays on November 18, and we’ve got some exciting initiatives in the works for the upcoming season.

Coming Next: Projects in Development

Keep an eye on future posts for more detail on these upcoming productions!

  • Heading toward the winter, I’ll be diving back into casting season for this year’s Premiere the Play podcast episode with a wildly creative two-hander script.

  • If you enjoyed my Ladies & Fools projects over the summer, stay tuned for our next theatre festival adventure…
