Greetings from Brooklyn! I’ve been New York/New Jersey-based for awhile, and more virtually-based than anything during much of the pandemic, but I’m thrilled to finally have an actual NYC home base. I hope this will increase the range of projects I can consider, and improve my ability to catch friends’ and collaborators’ limited-run productions.
Quote of the Month
"Adventure is worthwhile in itself." - Amelia Earhart
Performances & Media I enjoyed this month:
Finally seeing the new opera adaptation of Intimate Apparel at Lincoln Center Theatre after two years delay!
Enjoying an impressive program at New York City Ballet, including their one-act Swan Lake
Revisiting the contemporary play Mother’s Daughter by Kate Hennig for a reading with friends
… This falls in the category of reading a series years after it got popular to see what the hype was about … but I’ve been quite enjoying the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas!
A few February snapshots!
Current & Upcoming
I spent much of the past month moving and continuing work on projects I’ve mentioned here before, but my season two play - The Powers That Be - for the Premiere the Play podcast has gone into rehearsals this month and we are hard at work toward our mid-March recording date. This suspenseful dystopian piece will be produced as an audio-format staged reading as part of this innovative new work podcast, and will be released this summer with nine other works by contemporary playwrights from around the world.
I’m also getting ready to dive into some new dramaturgical work, stay tuned for more information on that!
Art Updates: Ghost Light
I started adding watercolor artwork to my Etsy shop during quarantine, and I’ve been wanting to offer some of these designs on a wider variety of products. This month I’ve finally branched out to try a Redbubble shop, which I’m plugging here especially because the first offering will be the theatrical Ghost Light design - now available on t-shirts, mugs, phone cases and more for that special opening night gift or any other occasion!
Coming Attractions
Friends’ shows I can’t wait to see in March!
The rock concept musical Glass Town at The Tank
Aporia Artists Collective in-person premiere production of But Not Uncle Vanya in Philadelphia
And this is neither a friend’s show or in March, but I’m also very excited to check out Suffs at The Public in April!
