As the midsummer season brings us from June into July I’ve got an upcoming performance to share, as well as quite a bit of writing and pitching behind-the-scenes lately. Hope everyone is staying cool in this heat, and wishing you a summer full of plays in the park and no rain delays!

The Colors of Paradise Dance Concert - 7/13 @ 2pm
I’ve loved getting back to dance teaching since the winter working with Forager Theatre Company’s Take Root classes, and now several dances begun in class will be showcased in Forager’s upcoming summer concert on Sunday, July 13. Themed around “The Colors of Paradise,” the concert dances will uplift and celebrate the dreams and aspirations of othered groups and explore the many ways that paradise reveals itself. I have choreographed one piece that will appear in the concert, blending partner and contemporary dance styles, and will also be dancing in an additional piece. Tickets are available at the link above, and we would love to see you there!

Ongoing: Keep up with Ladies & Fools!
I am at work behind-the-scenes on upcoming projects for Ladies & Fools, but until we have our next performances to share… We would love to invite you to keep in touch with us between shows on Patreon! Patreon is a simple-to-use platform for artists and creatives, allowing us to offer quick updates as well as donation opportunities to support the troupe.
If you select to follow our page for free, you’ll receive periodic emails when we have updates such as upcoming performances or livestreams.
If you are interested to set up a small monthly donation (including $2 and $5 levels), rather like a mini membership, you will gain access to fun perks such as behind-the-scenes blog posts and early ticket info. And of course, you will also receive our tremendous gratitude for helping us to continue creating and producing exciting theatre!!
Upcoming Events
Season 5 Launch of Premiere the Play - beginning August 5th
Now in its fifth season, the Premiere the Play podcast returns later this summer with another exciting slate of new plays produced in audio format across varied genres – from film noir to romantic comedies to family dramas. Starting from the beginning of August new plays will release each Tuesday followed by playwright interviews on Thursdays, wherever you get your podcasts. I look forward to sharing the episode that I directed for this season, which throws together one mythological and one historical figure in a coming-of-age tale of finding your own voice.

June Highlights & Recommendations
Some favorite media and performances from the past month, as well as spotlighting upcoming opportunities to catch some (mostly) outdoor summer theatre from friends and collaborators!
Reading The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin and After Sappho by Selby Wynn Schwartz
NYC Theatre, Lately Catching Bus Stop at Classic Stage, Eurydice at Signature Theatre, and Dead Outlaw during its final week on Broadway.
Classically-Inspired Plays around Town
I enjoyed catching some free and less-frequently-produced Shakespeare in the park fare with Boomerang Theatre’s Richard II, and they’ve got a few more weekends to go!
In just a few weeks my friends at Needs More Work Productions will debut their newest Greek tragedy adaptation, Back-Eye, with performances in Queens and Manhattan.
Prefer your summer theatre indoors? The Little Shakespeare Festival (where I directed and produced Fools in the Forest last year) returns to the East Village in August, and I look forward to checking out this season’s festival.
