December: In Review

What a year it’s been!

Quote of the Month

“Happy ever after doesn’t mean forever, it just means time. A little time.”

-River Song

Current & Upcoming

This month was a busy one in my work for Gingold Theatre Group and New World Stages, where we undertook a large database project and an ambitious holiday performance schedule, respectively. It was also a treat, on a festive evening off, to catch Neil Gaiman's reading of A Christmas Carol at Town Hall. In my own artistic work, our Fireweeds podcast team (see last month for full introduction of the project) is hard at work to bring you a pilot episode early in 2024!

Throughout December we completed casting and began virtual rehearsals, including a full-cast read-through. It was a delight to hear our cast of characters assemble for the first time, and even to hear teasers of the orchestration from our composer. In this season of reflecting back on wrapped projects from the year, it is exciting to have this one mid-process as an inspiring bridge into a new year of productions.

The Year in Production Art

With my focus consistently on freelance opportunities this year, I had the opportunity to work in a wider range of processes and production team roles. I enjoyed returning to stage management for the first time since the pandemic shutdown, pursuing playwriting more actively, and directing within longer-form development processes for Dinosaur on the Moon and Fireweeds. Projects I worked on also took home honors at the two fringe festivals in 2023, and I can’t wait to see where the new year takes us!

As has become tradition, here’s my production art collage from the year and my shoutout to the variety of theatre companies and arts organizations I worked with in 2023. Give their programming a look in the new year!
